He didn't interrupt as she spoke, and he was doing rather well at hiding his reactions on his face. At the mention of a boy attacking her, Fins muscled tensed and his grip on her hand tightened-though he didn't notice it. He followed her home? His blood was starting to boil now. But when she started to explain what she did to him, he showed no emotion on his face. He didn't want to scare her by showing that he was startled, maybe a little scared himself.
He was silent for a moment after she had finished, shaking his head slightly. "Hey," he started, reaching a hand up as if to turn her face back toward his, but it didn't make it there, he dropped his hand. "I'm just glad you have some sort of defense if you were ever to-" he stopped again.

The grip on her hand was tight and should have been uncomfortable, but it wasn't. If anything, it was calming to feel his fingers laced with hers as she realized what he meant. "If I was reaped. I know, but that won't happen. I'll be nineteen in eight days, and the reaping isn't for a while. Unless the Capital just changes things up on us, I'm out of the woods now." Finishing Fin's sentence was hard, but she knew he was right. Her personality wouldn't have allowed her to win, at least in her opinion, but she would have had a fighting chance. "I couldn't...I don't think I could do that though, Fin. Once was an accident, but I couldn't do it on purpose, not even if my life depended on it."Amy's voice was wavering at the thought and not as strong or sure as it normally would. No, she couldn't take a life, not like that.

She said it. Reaped. Granted, it was a normal thing for people her age, and others, but he was sure it still bothered her. Playing in the game was different, words meant different things. Words were attached to personal experience. Granted, Fin had volunteered to compete in the games... his mind flashed to a fictional place where Amy's name was called and he had to blink several times to remove the image.
"Out of the woods..." he repeated in a mutter. It was true, he wouldn't have to worry so much. But the Quell was coming up, which meant that anyone could go really. Anything could happen.
She was so delicate so... breakable. She said she couldn't do it, couldn't hurt someone on purpose. "It's amazing what happens once you're in there," he said, his voice quiet. He knew the subject was a delicate one, killing people. He bit his lip for just a second before releasing it. "I knew i would do it though. I knew I had to win," he said, is voice even quieter, not daring to look at this sweet pacifist beside him. If she had watched the games, she probably thought he was a monster.

The way he spoke alarmed her enough to turn around and see that she wasn't the only one looking away. Fin was upset, that was plain to see, but why she wasn't sure. Maybe it was just talking about the games, or something else she had said. Either way, she wanted to fix it, just like everything else. "Fin..." Amy started, reaching out with her free hand to touch the knee she was sitting beside. The movement was awkward because of how she had been sitting, and by the time she was done Amy had mostly moved on to the bed with him. Only one leg was dangling off the side. "I don't know why you did it, and I don't care. Anyone who has spent a minute with you knows that you had a purpose. It's over now, or as over as it can be." Amy was treading in dangerous waters and she knew it. At any point she could go too far, but he needed something. She just didn't know what. "If you ever need to talk, or anything...Fin I'm not going to judge you. If that was going to happen, I wouldn't have watched and I definitely wouldn't have come here tonight."

"Fin..." He turned to her as she said his name, as she touched his knee. She had one leg up on the bed now, the other was dangling over the side. He almost told her to just get comfortable, but he wasn't quite ready to use those words yet. He needed to see what she thought of him after the games. Because of the games. She didn't care, she said. She could easily see that he had a purpose. Could he tell her what it was? Could he tell her the truth?
Not yet, not the whole truth.
"I..." he started talking in the middle of her last sentence, her sentence about how she wouldn't have watched or come there tonight, "I don't want you to be afraid of me, Am," he muttered, keeping his eyes locked with hers. "You're not, though. I can tell." And he could, too. She was getting closer to him, not farther away. She had watched and still came, right? Plus, she could easily take him down right now with her pain addition abilities and she hadn't. She obviously cared enough to do her job right.
"That's not me. Anymore, that is," he added, letting out a small cough.

"Finley Rockefellar, if I thought you would hurt me, I wouldve brought a peace keeper or my dad along. I trust you." Now why she trusted him was a mystery. Other than right now, how much time had she ever spent with him? Amy had no real reasons behind how she felt, other than that her gut told her he probably couldnt hurt her if he wanted to. "I see you, Fin. Not as a victor, not as some violent maniac like everyone else does. I see the boy you were and the man you've become. I haven't been scared of you for a minute. Scared for you, yes. On several occasions, but never of you."

Ooh, full name. That made his eyes widen, as did her tone and the fact that she trusted him. That whole sentence was packed full of things that made Fin relax a little, even though he was so surprised. At the rest of her words, he felt his throat tightening. No one had ever said anything like that to him, even his mother. Not that Angela thought he was crazy, but she had never said she wasn't scared of him.
He was silent for a moment, but before he could say anything another fit of coughs came, causing him to lean over. Once they were done, he just kept leaning until his head was resting on her shoulder, "Sorry about that," he muttered, taking a few deep breaths before pulling away from her, with difficulty. "How do you know you can trust me, anyway?" he said, his voice low again. His face was not that far from hers, and he was acutely aware of it, but he held his ground. He may have even looked a little intimidating.

Of course he would ask the question she didn't have the answer to, right after invading her personal space. Not that she had minded, up until he pulled away. Intimidation was something she was used to, especially since she had started working full time. People were scary when they were hurt or sick. "You aren't scaring me Finley, so cut the act." The annoyance in her voice was barely there as she acknowledged his defensiveness. They were talking about things that shouldn't see the light of day, and she understood that. Good thing it was dark outside. "If you were going to hurt me, you would have done it by now to start." Answering him in a softer voice, Amy leaned in closer to him. They were almost too close now. "And the simple answer is I don't know, but my instincts tell me I can and I'm never wrong. I've trusted you and cared about you since the day we met. I wish I had an explanation for it, but I dont." The final words slipped out of her mouth and she moved to pull away. Why had she said that? He was going to hate her and she knew it. You didn't just walk in and make concessions like that, it was creepy.

"You aren't scaring me Finley, so cut the act." He found the corner of his lip move into a smile at that. He raised an eyebrow at her as she leaned in closer to him, saying that he would have hurt her already if he had wanted to. She confessed that she didn't know why she trusted him, and that she cared about him. His slight act had vanished now, and his hand reached up to stop her from moving away by gently clasping her chin. He quickly pulled his hand away though, "I trust you too, you know. Hence why I wanted you there in the games with me," his eyes widened at what he had said, "not that I wanted you to get reaped that year with me. No, no," be sort of sputtered out, he was ready to change the subject. "I could still hurt you, you know," his eyebrows raised a little as a bit of a smirk came back, "maybe I'm just..." he looked down for a moment at their clasped hands and pulled on hers, toward him. Then he looked back up at her face, "biding my time."

"Then do it. If your going to hurt me, get it over with." Amy whispered, her head resting beside his as she spoke. He had pulled her close enough that she knew she should be worried. There were a thousand things he could do to her right now, more than one she had seen him do In the games. Still, she wasn't scared. Even if he did, she could drop him before he got far, at least long enough to get out of the house. This was Fin though, and he wouldn't do anything. Right? "come on, prove me wrong if your going to. I don't think you will though." Of course she would choose to challenge a victor. She was too stubborn not to. What in the world was she thinking?

The fact that she had whispered sent a jolt of energy through Finleys body. She was clever, this one, and his little game was really backfiring on him now. He gulped, and didn't say anything before she spoke again, telling him to prove her wrong. He tightened his grip on her hand and pulled her even closer so that she'd have to lift her straggler leg onto the bed as well. "You're acting very reckless," he muttered back, his heartbeat speeding up.
He leaned in again, and that stupid tickle in the back of his throat came back full force. It was good timing, otherwise his drugged state might have done something stupid. He sat up, looking away from her and coughing for at least forty seconds. Moment killer.

Resting her hand comfortingly on his shoulder, Amaryllis sighed. It sounded like he was getting worse. The medicine should kick in soon, and then he could rest. Until it did, it looked like he was going to be miserable. "I'm reckless and your stubborn. What else is new?" She grinned as the coughing finally stopped. "How are you feeling? Is it getting any better.?" His fever appeared to be going down slightly, so at least they had that going. Any really needed to pay attention more to her job before he ended up seriously ill.

His coughing turned into laughter at her 'reckless/stubborn' comment. He turned to face her as she aske dhow he was feeling, leaning back a little. "I think that the medicine is starting to work, actually. I know it doesn't look it, but after that cough I actually feel a lot better," he explained. It was mostly true, except he only felt a LITTLE better, not a LOT. He leaned back onto the pillow beside her and reached for her hand again.
"So, do you climb in bed with all your patients?" he asked.

Joining in with his laughter, Amy shook her head. "No, I have to say your the first. I try to make a habit out of being professional, which means this is completely your fault." She was teasing of course. However, honesty was what she was going for. "to be honest I've never done anything like this before at all. Patient or otherwise." A slight blush crept up her cheeks as she smiled, turning her face away from him for a moment in embarrassment.

So, this was his fault. He wasn't going to deny that. He was acting a fool, his sick nature and his medicine fogging his brain. That didn't mean he was doing things he didn't want to, but he wouldn't normally be doing them. As she admitted not doing anything like this, her cheeks reddened and he found himself smiling even more. "I take full blame for this, Doc," he said, "but hey, you don't have to sit up here with me," he added.
