Riley looked at her, his eyes still a little foggy coming out of a very real flashback, "I took their lives... so that I could live... so that the citizens of the capitol can have a show... their blood is on my hands and I will never wash it off. I've forgiven myself as it was life or death and selfishly I wanted to come home and see you again at least once, but... that doesn't mean I can ever forget." The shaking started as he started to notice the temperature in the room and the fact that he was covered in a thin layer of sweat, "I am glad are children will be safe from the reaping, but I would never want them to clamor to the games as a sense of entertainment. You have to promise me that, if anything were to happen to me after we had a family, you would teach them what the games are like in there, what we had to suffer before we could be together. I don't want them to think this is okay, we can't change it but doesn't me we have to agree with it." He said before he kissed her shoulder. He didn't care that Harper was being a little selfish, it was a good thing something he was happy about but he still worried about his family back home and their children and grandchildren. The cycle would never end until there was a moment the capitol weakened right now though it was too strong. "I know you grew up here, but even five years ago there was something different, something that just spoke to me. Almost as if you understood that the games were not really games that were played, more like survived. I envy Freya... she has no actual blood on her hands, she just managed to survive."

"That doesn't mean she doesn't have to live with survivor's guilt. Poor kid lost her brother in there." Harper pointed out as she adjusted herself in his lap so that she could wrap her arms around his neck. If Riley was feeling this bad, she should probably just give Becca a rain check and stay home with her husband. They all understood that Riley had his moments where things just weren't okay anymore. "And you know I would never let anyone in my family believe that the games were fun or a sport. The sisters see it as a means to an end...well, Cord might be slightly entertained, but in general...it's just work for them. IT always has been. I would've been the same way soon if it wasn't for you."

At Juliet's mention of Freya's brother he thought back to his own brother stuck in the district. Though they were only half brother's he really didn't want to think about hearing his name called, a pit formed in his stomach at the mere thought and he knew if he was a good older brother he should think about taking his place if the rules allowed for it. Looking at Harper though it was hard for him to think about leaving her, risking it all again he wasn't sure if he could live through all of that again. Sighing he said, "You're right as usual. I seem to have forgotten that. I don't know what these games will hold but part of me is still stuck thinking about Eleven..."
Riley pulled her closer when she mentioned keeping the family's head on straight when it came to the games, well other than Cord and he could deal with that. Smiling finally he added, "Your lovely family has opened their arms to me considering my lowly beginnings. Well most of them, I just have this feeling like Cord thinks I was trying to better myself... Really all it was is that I fell in love with you and you were the one person other than my siblings who managed to see the issues I was dealing with, and I know you to well Harper. You need a day out with the girls, I will even join you if you want but I will be fine. You know its just harder dealing with all the memories around this time." He placed a kiss on her hand, "I haven't broken yet, and I don't think you will get rid of me that easily."

Harper opened her mouth to reply but stopped short whenever the phone began to ring. "Who would be calling now?" She wondered out loud, kissing riley softly before standing to find out. Sure enough, it was Becca. "Hey boss lady, what's up? Really? Sounds like a plan, I thought about calling in anyways." Harper laughed at something becca said on the other end of the line and winked at riley. Whatever her boss had gotten in to was absolutely hilarious and she couldn't wait until the next time they got together. It seemed becca may be able to give cord a run for her money in the exploits department this well.
"Alright Becca, we'll see you later this week. Yes I'll do that. Later." The phone was back on the receiver in a heartbeat as becca raced across the room and jumped on to the couch beside her husband. "Looks like it's just you and me babe. That was one of the clones. Apparently becca is channeling her inner cord so she decided to call off the shopping trip."

Riley couldn't help but smile at his wife's reactions to her friend and bosses antics. When she came back and told him that the shopping trip was over he was happy but at the same time a little sad since he had no issues going if she wanted to. "Well if it is just the two of us there are several things we could do here or maybe it is time to update your lovely wardrobe before the next victory tour. Besides I get to see you try on all the clothes I pick even if they are not the best you always seem to get a kick out of shopping in general." He smiled and pulled her into his arms breathing in her scent, one of the more relaxing things he knew about in his lifetime.
Placing his hands around her waist he then added, "After we could grab a coffee or a light meal if you want. I mean after all I just need to have you with me to feel calm and I can't keep hiding in the house. I have to get out of here sometimes during the day."
