It was a little strange, but Rosalind was a lumberjack. She seemed like a petite blonde girl, but there was more than meets the eye. She had the strength to do her job and enjoyed it vigorously. It had been the job of her late father. Normally the women she knew worked as paper-makers, but Rosa just didn't like that as much as cutting down trees.
She had worked all morning and was quite exhausted. Putting her axe down by her side, she slumped against a tree that hadn't cut down yet. There was a flask of water tied around her waist, and she removed it from her belt and started to drink.

Connor found himself walking up behind Rosalind and smiling, she was a young woman who he cared about, she was his friend and he wanted to ask her out but he didn't want to do that to her, he couldn't risk having her attached to him if he had even a remote chance of being reaped by the capitol. She was someone who was so unique and strong, never giving into the common roles of women in their district. Crouching low he rushed closer to her and picked her up and spun in a few circles. "What after only half a day you are sweating? I thought you were tougher than that Miss Norwood." His smile was bright as he set her down laughing as he added, "You are the strongest person I know Rosa, would you like some help though?"

Rosalind gasped and screamed in surprise when, all of a sudden, someone had scooped her in their arms and spun her around. She realized at the same moment that it was Connor, though, since she got a glimpse of his face and brown hair--and, of course, he was practically the only one who did this to her. "Connor!" she laughed. "Put me down!"
When he put her down, she was still laughing as she sought to regain her balance on her feet. "I'm more dizzy than sweaty, thanks to you!" she protested with a grin. She shook her head when he offered to help. "No, no, it's totally alright, Connor. I've got it. It might look strange for me to swing an axe, but it's not that hard." She shook her head a bit so her hair would be swished back to normal, and then asked with a slight tilt of her head, "So what have you been doing before coming here?"

Connor laughed, "Well it may not be hard for you but it is a great workout, I might stay and enjoy the view." He winked at her as he picked up the axe and smiled as he felt the weight and balance, she had managed to get one of the better ones this time around. "School was let out early and I thought I might come and help out, though if you don't want any I could just admire the view..." Trailing off he smiled and then added, "I mean the sky is simply breathtaking this time of day." He leaned down and placed a kiss on her cheek, "Too bad I can't hang out with the best girl in the district, I might have to go find the second best."
